Il Casaletto is one half of an original farmhouse situated on the outskirts of the small town of Giove. It offers some very good walks locally and there are bicycles at the house to use. It is 5 minutes by car or a 20-minute walk to Giove (where different facilities are available: Co-op, bank, chemists, 3 butchers, a couple of bars and one restaurant). Amelia is 15 minutes away by car and offers a greater selection of shops and restaurants. From the holiday home in only 15 minutes driving you are on the highway Rome-Florence. The property has a private pool and a large garden. It is a great place for children who can enjoy the pool and can explore the garden with its own wood. If you are lucky you may spot wild boar , porcipines and in June the beautiful fireflies. The house sleeps up to 6 adults and has one double bedroom, two singles bedrooms and a sofa bed (suitable for a child) in the living room on the first floor. Cot and highchair on request available. The top floor of the house has its own terrace which offers a fantastic panorama of the local countyside and of the town of Giove itself. It is well equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher, cd/radio/tape stereo, satelite TV, DVD and video player. SOUTHERN/CENTRE UMBRIA In Umbria, a region that has gained a name for being the green heart of Italy, tourism is growing because of the unfamiliar harmony between nature, antiquities, historic centres and culture. The quiet of the countryside, good provisions and an inimitable cuisine are the great draw. This region is less touristy than Tuscany and this is especially appreciated by many tourists. Southern/centre Umbria forms an ideal starting point for enjoying the peace of the surrounding hilly and mountainous landscape and on the other hand making trips to beautifull towns like Todi, Orvieto, Narni, Spoleto, Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi. There are also numerous charming little villages many of medieval origin - as Amelia, Labro, Spello, Norcia, Bevagna, Montefalco to visit. In many towns and villages you can taste local dishes or buy local wines and olive oil (generally of excellent quality). You can also easily visit in day trips - famous towns and charming villages in the southern part of Tuscany such as Siena, Arezzo, San Giminiano, Pienza, Cortona, Sinalunga, etc. Many tourists visit also Rome from here (without staying in the city which is very hot in summer) once or more times. It is possible to go by car (journey of 1h-1h30) or by train from the stations of: Terni, Narni-Amelia, Orte & Orvieto. We must not forget the mountains with some splendid woods, e.g. Terminillo (up to 2000 metres by car). In around 1 hour it is possible to reach the shimmering lakes of Bracciano, Vico, Piediluco, Bolsena and Trasimeno. The Mediterranean Sea (mostly sand beaches) situated between Tarquinia and Chiarone are 90-120 Kms away (around 1h20-1h40 driving). Near the city of Terni you can also visit the Marmore falls (165 meters, one of the highest of Europe), there is nearby also a rafting/canoeing/hydrospeed center. |
